SALTO DEL PENITENTE, URUGUAY

JUMP OF THE PENITENT.

It is 60 meters cascading high.
Es en cascada de 60 metros de altura.

This is the highest waterfall in Uruguay.
Este es el salto de agua mas alto de Uruguay.

This forms part of Municipal Park of Penitent Jump.
Este forma parte del Parque Municipal Salto del Penitente.

The park has approximately 60 hectares.
El parque tiene aproximadamente 60 hectareas.

This park was donated by Dr. Francisco Ferber to the Lavalleja Municipal goverment.
Este parque fue donado por el Dr. Francisco Ferber a la Intendencia Municipal de Lavalleja.

The entrance to the jump is 30 Uruguayan pesos to January 2018 ( 1 dollar)
La entrada al salto es de 30 pesos uruguayos a Enero del 2018 ( 1 dolar).

There is a restaurant that can have breakfast and lunch with a very nice view towards the jump.
Hay un restaurante que se puede desayunar y almorzar con una vista muy linda hacia el salto.

There is a camping to harbor about 200 people, which is paid.
Hay un camping para albergar unas 200 personas, el cual es pago.

The camping offers services of stoves and toilet services with showers.
El camping ofrece servicios de fogones y servicios de baños con duchas.

There is a shelter for about 35 people.
Hay un refugio para unas 35 personas personas.

The bathrooms in the shelter are external and have hot water.
Los baños en el refugio son externos y tienen agua caliente.

There are horseback riding, hiking trails and adventure sports, these activities are only enables for weekends and holidays.
Hay cabalgatas, travesias por senderos y deportes aventura, estas actividades estan habilitadas unicamente para los fines de semana y feriados.

There is a Canopy, a sport that consists of sliding from one end of the mountain range to the other by means of a steel cable in tension, the person is placed a harness at the waist attached to a sheave.
Hay una tirolesa o Canopy un deporte que consiste en deslizarse de una punta de la sierra hacia la otra mediante un cable de acero en tension, la persona se coloca un arnes a la cintura sujetoa una roldana.

The longest stretch reaches 180 meters, reaching 60 meters in height.
El tramo mas largo llega a 180 metros, alcanzando los 60 metros de altura.

The activities are scheduled from 10 to 17 hours.
Las actividades tienen como horario de 10 a 19 horas.

DOS ENTRADAS AL SALTO --TWO ENTRIES TO THE JUMP

The first one is at kilometer 125 of route 8.
La primera se encuentra a la altura del kilometro 125 de la ruta 8.

From the entrance you have to travel 16  km along a ballast road between the mountains range with a wonderful landscape.
A partir de la entrada hay que recorrer 16 km por un camino de balastro entre las sierras con un maravilloso paisaje.

The second one stars at kilometer 134 of route 8-
La segunda se inicia en el kilometro 134 de la ruta 8.

From there, 9 km are traveled along a vituminized path.
Desde alli se recorren 9 km por un camino vituminizado.
