Habitan en lagunas semipermanentes con vegetacion y charcos grandes., en alguas oportunidades cerca de viviendas humans.

Se han encontrado ejemplares en piscinas abandonadas.

Estas poseen verrugas alargadas en la espalda.

Estas se alimentas de insectos, aracnidos, lombrices y caracoles.

Estas depositan sus huevos en el fondo de los charcos.

A los renacuajos les puede llevae entre 7 y 8 meses y algunpos de estos pasan el invierno en un estado de hibernacion.

Estos en su forma adulta son parecidos a los ejemplares juveniles del escuerzo grande (Ceratophrys ornata) y siempre se los confunden.
