Rio Cuareim Uruguay

 

Su nombre en Portugues es Rio Quarai.

Its name in Portuguese word is Rio (river) Quarai.

La palabra Cuareim proviene del Guarani que significa "Rio que brota de un hoyo"

The word Cuareim comes from Guarani which means "River that springs from a hole".

Con sus 351 kilometros en extension es el tercer afluente del Rio Uruguay, por detras de los 750 km del Rio Negro y los 673 km del Rio Ibicui.

With its 351 kilometers in extension, it is the third tributaary of the Uruguay River, behind the 750 km of the Black river and the 673 km of the Ibicui River.

Sobre las margenes del Rio se asientan las ciudades de Artigas (Uruguay y Quarai (Brasil), unidas ambas por el puente Internacional de la Concordia.

The cities of Artigas (Uruguay) and Quarai (Brazil) are located in the banks of the river, both linked by the International Bridge of Concordia.

Cerca de su desembocadura con el Rio Uruguay se en cuentra la ciudad de Bella Union (Uruguay) unida a la ciudad de Barra do Cuareim (Brasil) por el Puente Internacional Bella Union- Barra do Quarai y cerca de alli se encuentra la ciudad de Monte Caseros (Argentina) formando una triple frontera.

Near its mouth with the Uruguay River is the city of Bella Union (Uruguay) linked to the city of Barra of Cuareim (Brazil) by the Onternational Bridge Bella Union-Barra Do Quarai and near there is the city of Monte Caseros (Argentina) forming a triple border.

Con sus 760 metros el Puente Internacional de la Concordia  que atravieza el Rio Cuareim es considerado el puente con curva mas largo de America del Sur

With its 760 meters, the Concordia International Bridge that crosses Cuareim River is considered the longest curved bridge in South America.

En Artigas hay un dicho, si alguien viene al carnaval de la ciudad de Artigas  y toma agua del rio Cuareim no se va mas.

In Artigas there is a saying, if someone comes to Artigas city carnival and drinks water from Cuareim river, they wont leave anymore..

El rio Cuareim nace en territorio brasileño, en la ladera brasileña de la cuchilla Negra.

The Cuareim river is born in Brazilian territory, on the Brazilian slope of the Black blade.

El 25 de febrero del 2011 el municipio de Bella Union declara la desembocadura del Rio Cuareim con el Rio Uruguay como  la Reserva Departamental Rincon de Fraquia.que tiene un total de 1150 hectareas, aqui se han registrado 54 species de arboles, 223 especies de aves, 21 especies de anfibios y 14 de reptiles, en esta zona se a registrado la Culebra arboricola ( Phylodrias olfersii) y la anaconda amarilla (Eunectes notaeus) y son los unicos registros en todo el pais.

On February 25, 2011, the municipality of Bella Union declared the mouth of the Cuareim River with the Uruguay River as Rincon de Fraquia Deparment reserve, which has a total of 1150 hectares, here 54 species of trees have been registred, 223 birds species, 21 Amphibiand species and 14 reptiles, in this area the Arborica snake (Phylodrias olfersi) and the Yellow anaconda (Eunectes notaeus) have been registred and are the only records in the whole country.

El Arroyo de la Invernada es un afluente del Rio Cuareim y le debe su nombre a que Jose Artigas uso ese lugar  para invernar ganado del lado Brasilero conocido como Rincon de Artigas  tiene  unos 237 km cuadrados que hasta 1861 le pertenecia a Uruguay.

The Arroyo  de la Invernada (Wintering Stream) is a tributary of Cuareim River and owes its name to the fact that Jose Artigas used that place to winter cattle on the Brazilian side known as Rincon (Corner) de Artigas has about 237 square km that until 1861 belonged to Uruguay.

El Rio Cuareim se localiza al Sur de Brasil ( que incluye el municipio de Santana do Livramento, Quarai y Uruguaiana) y al Noreste del Uruguay (Departamento de Artigas.)

The Cuareim River is located in the south of Brazil (which includes the municipality of Santana do Livramento, Quarai and Uruguaiana) and in the northeast of Uruguay (Artigas State)

La ciudad de Artigas con sus casi 40 mil habitantes es la urbanizacion mas grande a orillas del Rio Cuareim del lado uruguayo.

Artigas city with its almost 40 thousand inhabitants is the largest urbanization of the Cuarei River on the Uruguayan side.
