Su epoca de reproduccion en Uruguay es de Octubre,a Diciembre.

Su nombre picabuey se debe a que se love posado en el ganado vacuno o equino donde caza los antropodos que son levantados por estos al caminar y ademas se alimenta de los parasitos de estos animales.

Its name picabuey (oxpecker) is due to the fact that it loves perched on cattle or horses where it hunts the anthropoids that are raised by them when walking and also feeds on the parasites of these animals.

Este habita en praderas, parques abiertos,y jardines.

Ambos sexos son iguales.

Both sexes are the same.

Caza en suelo con carreras rapidas y generalmente en parejas o pequeños grupos.

It hunt in the ground with fast runs and generally in pairs or small groups.

Tiene aproximadamente 19 cm de largo.

It is approximately 19 cm long.

Este hace su propio nido o construye el mismo en nidos abandonados de otras aves.

Estos tienen su cabeza gris, pecho y vientre amarillo.
