Esta habita en campos abiertos en todo el Uruguay.
It inhabits open fields throughout Uruguay.

Los pichones de la lechucita de campo pueden imitar el sonido de la serpiente de cascabel para alejar a sus depredadores.

Cuando esta en alerta puede girar su cabeza y como sus ojos estan en posicion frontal tiene ventaja para localizar sus prezas.
